We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our client’s team in the Kingston, ON region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems to ensure they function efficiently and comply with regulatory standards.
This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, strong Communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our clients.
Relocation is offered for the right candidate.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Certified Fire Alarm Technician registered in good standing with the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA)
- Two-year college diploma or equivalent in fire and life safety systems, electronics, or instrumentation
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in fire alarm inspections, certification, and related work
- Proficient in computer operations including word processing, email, and database management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Collaborating with various departments and senior management
- Completion of WHMIS, First Aid / CPR, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods training
- Valid "G" driver's licence required
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting to 50 lbs.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Fire Systems Inspection and Certification :
- Conduct monthly and annual inspection and certification of fire systems on campus as required by the Ontario Fire Code and applicable CSA Standards
- Identify deficiencies requiring maintenance and report them to facilities for follow-up and repair
- Complete inspection reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Coordinate with building occupants and users to minimize disruptions during testing.
External Coordination :
- Coordinate with external fire alarm monitoring agency for required inspections and maintenance
- Coordinate with external contractors and Residences Facilities for semi-annual inspection of commercial kitchen fixed fire suppression systems.
Fire Extinguisher Maintenance :
- Conduct annual inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers on campus
- Assist Fire Safety Coordinator in maintaining inventory of fire extinguishers
- Coordinate with external contractors for extinguisher recharging and hydrostatic testing.
Decommissioning and HAZMAT Team :
Occasionally decommission equipment and materials, consulting with relevant safety officers as necessary
General Assistance :
- Assist other departmental staff as required
- Undertake additional duties as delegated in support of the unit or department
