We are accelerating our digital transformation efforts and are seeking a motivated, analytical, and customer-focused Business Systems & Data Analyst to join our IT team. This role will help improve the way our business systems, data, and processes work together to support our commitment to efficiency, modernization, and growth.
Role Overview
As a Business Systems & Data Analyst, you will be in a hybrid role that blends Tier-2 business systems support, hands-on reporting and analytics development, ensuring data integrity and reconciliation across a multi-system environment.
This is a technical-first role for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, especially when data is messy and the systems are not integrated. Challenges will include figuring out why the numbers do not match and fixing the root cause through process changes, configuration updates, permissions, data quality improvements, or integration adjustments.
You will support and improve core business platforms including In-House Field Operations, ERP, and CMMS systems. Reporting is delivered through Power BI, SSRS, and SQL extracts. Working closely with Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Service and Maintenance teams, you will troubleshoot issues, reconcile data between systems, and deliver trusted operational reporting.
Key Responsibilities :
Business Systems Issue Resolution & Escalation (Tier-2)
- Own the resolution of escalated Tier-2 business system issues across core platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving data integrity, configuration, permissions, integrations, and business processes.
- Reproduce issues, analyze underlying data and system behavior, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Document findings, corrective actions, and recommendations clearly for both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues efficiently and reduce recurring incidents.
Data Validation, Reconciliation & Integrity
Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between systems such as ERP, CMMS, field operations, fleet, and safety data.Build repeatable validation checks to identify exceptions including missing records, duplicates, mapping issues, and timing-related mismatches.Recommend root-cause fixes including process improvements, configuration changes, data cleanup, or reporting logic updates.Support the maintenance and enforcement of core reporting definitions, including business rules, KPI definitions, and single source of truth logic.Reporting, SQL & Analytics (Build)
Deliver reporting solutions end to end, including sourcing, extracting, transforming, and validating data from core business systems.Build, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, views, and datasets to support operational and management reporting.Perform ETL activities using SQL and reporting tools to create reliable, repeatable reporting datasets.Design and maintain dashboards and analytics solutions using Power BI (or similar tools).Develop and maintain SSRS reports and structured data extracts as required.Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, well documented, and aligned with defined business rules.Improve the performance and reliability of reporting outputs through query optimization and sound dataset design.Quality Control, Validation & Enablement
Validate system and reporting changes for accuracy, completeness, and operational readiness.Perform testing of updates and enhancements prior to deployment and support post-release verification.Create mockups, data flow sketches, basic process flow charts to help clarify expected behaviour before development.Create stories and acceptance criteria to assist development and testing efforts.Maintain documentation such as data dictionaries, report definitions, and standard operating procedures.Provide targeted user training to support correct system usage, data interpretation, and reporting adoption.Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.36 years of experience in business systems support, systems analysis, data reporting, or similar roles.Strong SQL capability, including joins, validation logic, aggregations, and the ability to investigate raw data confidently.Strong experience building reporting solutions in Power BI and or SSRS, or equivalent tools.Proven troubleshooting mindset that is structured, evidence-driven, and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.Experience supporting multiple business platforms, including ERP and operational systems, in a complex environment.Familiarity with data modeling concepts and KPI definition governance.Exposure to SQL performance tuning and database optimization, including indexes, query patterns, and execution awareness.Certifications such as CBAP, or Microsoft Power BI or SQL Server are considered an asset.What we offer :
