About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting function for a portfolio of renewable power assets within the Business Services Group.

In this role, you will regularly collaborate with members of Brookfield’s North American Finance team and other internal stakeholders, allowing you to build strong networks within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of your portfolio of companies, managing the financial statement close process and other financial reporting deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for and successfully implement improvements to the financial statement close process
  • Coach and lead the development of a team of accounting professionals
  • Provide expertise with respect to the application of IFRS and US GAAP standards to complex accounting issues
  • Ensure the reported financial results comply with company policies, accounting standards and internal controls
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Liaise with the external auditors to coordinate statutory audits and provide support for the BEP consolidated audit
  • Support the Senior Manager, Accounting in various related activities

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Exceptional skills and abilities in written and oral communication
  • Demonstrated business acumen with ability to see the big picture and drive results
  • Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess strong management and interpersonal skills focus on problem solving, coaching, and ability to manage team and individual responsibilities
  • Capable of managing difficult and demanding situations
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environment with fast pace of work, and tight deadlines
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience combined with managerial experience
  • In-depth understanding of IFRS (US GAAP an asset)
  • Knowledge or exposure to SOX would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of Excel, knowledge of IFS an asset

Note : Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 3 days to perform most effectively.
