MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Our client is a leading manufacturer of HVAC building products with operations across Canada and the United States, and a strong focus on innovation, quality, and operational excellence. They are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will help drive meaningful improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and overall plant performance.

As the successful candidate, you will be instrumental in improving manufacturing operations by implementing engineering solutions, refining processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify opportunities, resolve operational challenges, and enhance safety, efficiency, reliability, and overall plant performance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost
• Design and implement mechanical and process improvements to optimize production
• Support research and development activities by conducting studies, tests, data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Lead and support capital improvement projects, including equipment upgrades, layout changes, and process modifications
• Work closely with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement long-term solutions
• Provide day-to-day technical support to production with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost reduction
• Monitor equipment and system performance and address operational issues as they arise
• Conduct time studies, root cause analysis, and risk assessments to support decision-making
• Evaluate new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing methods to improve throughput and reliability
• Support installation, commissioning, testing, and training for new equipment and processes
• Develop and maintain process documentation and operating instructions
• Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes
• Track and report on key process improvement metrics
• Perform other related duties as required

As the ideal candidate, you have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and hold a P.Eng designation, and bring a minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment focused on process improvement or plant engineering. You have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes, along with proven experience managing engineering projects from concept through implementation.

Comfortable in a hands-on, plant-floor environment, you work effectively with cross-functional teams and demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies, as well as exposure to automation, robotics, or material handling systems, is highly valued. Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing data is expected, and experience with sheet metal manufacturing or HVAC-related processes is considered an asset.
