We are looking for a Communication Advisor to support our Communications Branch (CB). The Communication Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

As part of our Strategic Communications team, you will focus on providing communications advice and support to your assigned clients.

You will plan, coordinate, and implement a wide range of communications projects, products, services, and activities. You will also work closely with the different communications teams and networks across the NRC on best practices, approaches, and problem-solving.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates :

Education

Degree in a communications-related area of study, which could include journalism or marketing.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Recent and significant* experience providing strategic communications advice to clients.
  • Recent and significant* experience planning and implementing communications plans, projects and activities.
  • Recent and significant* experience writing and producing a range of communications products including, but not limited to, web and social media content, newsletter articles, speaking points, fact sheets, backgrounders, brochures, key messages, speeches and news releases.
  • Experience writing in plain language and for a variety of communications channels both internally and externally.
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recent and significant experience means experience acquired through the performance of a broad range of related activities.

Such experience is normally acquired through full-time employment over a minimum period of four years within the last six years.

  • Knowledge of the Government of Canada Policy on Communications and Federal Identity.
  • Knowledge of communications best practices, tools, tactics, industry trends and approaches.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing priorities and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to research, analyze and synthesize information.
  • Ability to write high quality materials in plain language for a variety of target audiences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Compensation

Salary under review.

From $86,312 to $92,579 per annum.

In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
