About the role :

We are looking for a Jr. Structural Designer to join our Waterloo office with a targeted start date of May, 2024. This individual will have the opportunity to be mentored by a strong team of Structural Engineers.

They will participate in the design process of institutional, commercial and residential projects such as community centres, places of worship, pedestrian bridges, aquatic centres, academic buildings, condominiums and landscape structures.

A day in the life may include developing structural design and project documents, meeting with clients, site visits for field review / investigations, and working collaboratively with teammates.

This is a full-time position that can be based out of any of our offices and allows for some remote work and flexibility.

About you :

• You have an undergraduate degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering.
• You are a creative problem solver at your core with strong interpersonal skills.
• You are a relationship builder and team player who is open-minded and collaborative.
• You have previous work experience within the structural discipline.
• You are a strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to communicate in graphic forms through hand sketches or computer-assisted drafting.
• You are a self-starter who enjoys and is capable of multitasking various projects and tasks.
• You have a solid understanding of the Ontario Building Code and relevant CSA design standards - a bonus!
• You have experience in both 2D, 3D, and BIM design / modelling software programs, and the interest to learn new applications.

Working knowledge of Revit is a bonus!

You can carry out structural design and calculations by hand and bonus if you are using structural analysis software such as Woodworks, ETABS, SAFE, MASS, Solid Works, and RISA.
