Salary range for the position is $128,298 to $184,428. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact :

The Director, Digital Health (DH) Project Management Office (PMO) operates in a dynamic and complex multi-site environment which is in constant change with the implementation of major strategic initiatives.

The Director is responsible to assess and increase the maturity of the PMO through the development and execution of strategic work plans, expanding PMO capacity and resources to support PMO maturity.

The Director guides development, implementation, and governance of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) dashboards and tools.

The Director oversees and reviews the development of reports prepared and provided as required to all levels of the organization, including senior management, executive and Board.

The Director supports the DH leadership team in the project request and approval annual planning cycle. Working with the PPMs, the Director monitors project and portfolio risks, reporting on project status, identifying issues, and recommending solutions as required.

In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.

What will you work on :

  • Assesses and increases the maturity of the PMO through the development, prioritization, and execution of strategic work plans, expanding PMO capacity and resources to support PMO maturity.
  • Establishes adaptable and best in class project management methodologies, standards, and tools, which are right-sized according to project complexity, risk, and organizational strategic factors.
  • Initiates quality improvements and process efficiencies where existing practices create barriers to project success.
  • Oversees the development, implementation and governance of Project Portfolio Management dashboards and tools.
  • Ensures consistency and transparency of project, program, and portfolio metrics and KPIs for DH leadership, project sponsors, portfolio directors, project portfolio managers, line of business managers and leads.
  • Oversees and reviews the development of reports prepared and provided as required to all levels of the organization, including senior management, executive and Board.
  • Supports the DH leadership team in assessing requested projects for feasibility, impact, and risk.
  • Monitors portfolio and project risks, reporting on project status, identifying issues, and recommending mitigation strategies and solutions as required.
  • Negotiates the deployment of internal and contracted project resources and authorizes PMO expenditures.
  • Collaborates with leadership and key business partners to ensure the establishment and implementation of organizational, departmental and project goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates engagement across broad partner groups, demonstrating the ability to build consensus in a highly dynamic and complex organization.
  • Develops networks and collaborative relationships with key internal and external project partners (e.g., IH leadership groups, vendors, and provincial partners) to manage expectations and requirements related to the PMO.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, performance management, attendance management, and discipline measures, up to and including termination, for direct reports.
  • Mentors and provides training for project managers to develop project management competencies.
  • Prepares the annual operating and capital budget for the department; monitors activities and ensures expenditures are within approved budgets;

identifies efficiencies that promotes the optimal use of resources.

  • Participates on internal and external committees representing Interior Health as assigned, demonstrating respect of public process and an understanding of the political dynamics of working in a public sector organization.
  • Leads, guides and direct PMO team while maintaining cohesion, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness, supporting staff growth and learning.
  • Performs other related duties and / or projects as assigned.
