JobDescription :

The Data Centre ofExcellence Unit requires contingent labour to advance its datastrategy roadmap. Leveraging a cloudbased Data Fabric approach itaims to efficiently organize and manage data assets.

The role ofData Technology Strategist involves providing expertise in dataplatforms and architectures supporting data access and analyticsand collaborating with stakeholders to enable datainformeddecisionmaking.

This includes facilitating the delivery of dataproducts and services and ensuring consistency in data deliveryarchitecture across projects.

Overall the role plays a vital partin enhancing access to and utilization of data assets for policyanalysis and decisionmaking

Responsibilities :

• Lead discussions meetings and workshops as needed withleaders / staff partners stakeholders endusers etc. to understandbusiness direction and enterprise data / information technologyrequirements and their value
• Design anddeliver enterprise and solution technology architecture related todata platforms
• Assess technical requirementsfor variety of business initiatives and provide architectureexpertise consultation and recommendation to colleagues and clients(e.

g. decisionmakers project teams and stakeholders) as directed bymanagement

• Model Proof of Concept solutions inan agile environment including integration and orchestrationapproaches to operate data products and services effectively andefficiently with available resources
• Provideguidelines for technology adoption and implementation (i.e. cloudmigration application modernization data modernization).
• Review solutions and designs of peers including datamodels and pipeline design and provide appropriate feedbackincluding performance optimization
• Providethought leadership and drive architecture and the design of DataManagement & Analytics solutions.
• Understand business strategies and priorities andtranslate those into data technology architecture requirements thatcreate highvalue data product solutions.
• Plandesign and deliver digitalized modernized and rationalizedinformation management technology solutions that meet businessneeds in the context of the data strategy including Master DataManagement (MDM) Data Quality critical data identification &classification security and access data governance etc.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and applicationsto improve existing data product management optimize costs andreduce development time
• Support thedevelopment and adoption of best practices in data management whichincludes data governance data sharing data integration data qualitycommon data and standardized methodologies
• Guide consultation with clients and staff as needed ondata services and provide leadership and direction on integrationand pipeline design.
• Coach mentor and empowerstaff to use creative thinking and develop innovativesolutions.
• Support a client centric andserviceoriented spirit and delivery approach across theteam.
• Support the cultural shift towards dataas a strategic asset.
• Foster data solutioninnovation as well as continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective stakeholder engagement within the areasof responsibility ensuring an effective solution balance ofenterprise and client centric needs.
• Initiateand maintain effective working relationships and partnerships withvarious internal and external stakeholders across theorganization.

Requirements :

University graduation in business management or a relateddiscipline and 6yr Data Architect (DA) experience or 2yr diploma inbusiness management or a related discipline and 8yr DA experience;

OR 1yr certificate in business management or a related disciplineand 9yr DA experience; OR 10yr DA experience

• Experience dealing with clients and explaining complexdata principles in a thoughtful manner.
• Experience in defining technical architecture dataintegration supporting software development software configurationand deployment processes
• Experience designingplanning implementing and supporting data platforms and datasolutions for large projects involving multiple data sources in anarchitect capacity for an environment equivalent in size andcomplexity to the Government of Alberta
• Experience in multiple architecture domains e.g. businessapplication technology data / information security andprivacy.
• Experience modelling complex businessprocesses and translating them into understandable ITconstructs.
• Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills and ability to interact professionally with adiverse group.
• Ability to learn quicklyproblem solve troubleshoot work independently and as part of ateam
• Ability to manage stress andconflict.
• The ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with team membersmanagement and vendors.
• Direct handsonexperience performing business requirement analysis solutionarchitecture and design and deployment for cloudbased DataManagement projects using cloud technologies like Azure Snowflakeetc.
• Direct handson experience performingbusiness requirement analysis solution architecture and design anddeployment related to data analysis data analytics datavisualization data science data mining.
• Directhandson experience performing business requirement analysissolution architecture and design and deployment related to datamanagement acquisition preparation quality and datalineage / provenance
• Direct handson experiencewith design and implementation of data security data privacypolicies data deidentification / anonymization data audits / reviewssynthetic data
• Experience developing anddelivering training materials.
• Experiencedeveloping data technology roadmaps in support of a corporate datastrategy
• Experience with implementingenterprise data strategy and / or data governance
• Experience in facilitating meetings and communicatingwith senior management and project stakeholders.
• Experience in performing threat and risk assessments andpresenting recommendations for risk mitigation to seniormanagement.
• Experience in the development andimplementation of data platforms governance standards processes andmechanisms to enable organizations to manage information throughits entire lifecycle.
• Experience providingleadership planning estimating and presentations of ideas andsolutions.
• Experience in using Big Dataplatforms like Cloudera Data Platform
• Experience with Data Fabric and Data Mesharchitectures
• Experience with enterprisearchitecture frameworks (e.g. The Open Group Architecture Framework(TOGAF) Gartner or Zachman).
• Experienceworking in or for the public sector
