What you will do :

The Site Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing our Bedford Square major development including, but not limited to, safety, quality, scheduling and trade coordination and problem solving.

This is a full-time on-site role based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The right candidate is eager, results-driven with full cycle multi-unit experience.

  • Ensure sufficient resources are provided to achieve safety, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Participate in the development and updating of the project schedule; create and manage short term look ahead schedules to ensure alignment of overall schedule and milestones.
  • On site supervision and coordination of trades.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager and other team members to resolve project issues.
  • Act quickly and develop strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy.
  • Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule challenges and other project issues.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and train project personnel when needed.
  • Lead by example by understanding, monitoring, and holding those at or near the project site accountable for adhering to Design Build Solution’s Safety Program.
  • Monitor and evaluate trade partner performance regarding safety, quality, and scope of work.
  • Working directly with vendors to order and receive materials to complete various scopes of work.
  • Maintain paperwork including daily field reports, safety inspections, schedule updates, etc.

This position is intended for those who have experience being on site managing major construction projects, full cycle from concept to completion, for at least 5-10 years.

Your experience & abilities

  • Construction Management Technology, Journeyman Certificate or related construction discipline is recommended.
  • Minimum 5-10+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent in construction.
  • Experience in General Contracting as Site Superintendent in residential, commercial and / or institutional construction;

Design Build experience is a plus.

  • Effective supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities to achieve project goals in relation to schedule, quality and budget.
  • A strong leader and problem-solver, you can build trust with designers, trade partners and team members to achieve competitive excellence.
  • The ability to quickly identify problematic situations, identify possible causes, produce effective solutions and collaboratively lead a large team of trade partners and team members to successful completion of a project.
  • You have demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Computer literacy including working skills in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software.
  • Must be flexible and a team player.
