Big Water Society is seeking a clinical Social Worker for Mental Wellness Counselling.
The beautiful remote community of Atlin, BC is looking for a clinical Social Worker to provide mental wellness counselling for our community.
Atlin is a community of 400 people located in the far NW corner of BC. Whitehorse, Yukon is our nearest city at two hours away.
Our setting is spectacular with lakes and mountains surrounding the town. Many wonderful seasonal outdoor activities and adventures await the incumbent.
Minimum Requirements :
- Possess a Masters / Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent.
- Be registered with the BC College Of Social Workers or BC College of Psychologists.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a mental health / clinical counsellor.
- Be knowledgeable and skilled in effective psychotherapy methods, practices, and procedures.
- Competent skill base working with trauma-based issues, PTSD, grief and loss, and chronic, complex, and concurrent disorders.
- Comfortable with diverse cultural traditions and remote community living.
- Be a well-organized adaptable individual capable of working both independently and as a team member.
Responsibilities :
- Be employed on a sub-contract basis by Big Water Society under our funding contract with Northern Health Authority. The successful candidate will follow NHA Mental Health and Addictions Program Service Deliverables.
- Conduct clinical assessments, short- and long-term counselling, and clinical referrals.
- Prepare and submit all required reports to Big Water Society Board members and NHA.
- Maintain client records and adhere to privacy requirements and ethical norms.
- Provide a clean driver's license and clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check, along with other up-to-date pertinent paperwork.
