Brunel is currently seeking a Lab Technician to work for a major Canadian Petrochemical company in Joffre, AB. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Ethylene, Polyethylene and Utility processes focusing on performing routine and non-routine analysis on waters (Wastewater, Sewage & Cooling Towers) and potential for various hydrocarbons (Liquid LPG & Vapor) samples.
Responsibilities :
- Adhere to client's Responsible Care® standards and principles.
- Perform chemical analysis of process and compliance samples using instrumentation and focusing on ISO 17025 accredited testing.
- Participate in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Engage in investigations of method quality and failures.
- Perform data collection for various lab related studies.
- Maintain conformance to the ISO 17025 standard to meet the requirements of CALA accreditation.
- Generate and analyze statistical data to maintain quality control of existing equipment and testing procedures.
- Participate in internal and external quality and safety audits.
Requirements :
- Chemical technology diploma or equivalent
- Analytical chemistry laboratory experience
- A strong safety and environmental attitude to support site Responsible Care® Principles and regulatory requirements
- Familiar with the requirements of ISO 17025
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledgeable in chromatography software and lab information management systems (LIMS)
- Mechanically inclined, with an aptitude for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
- Effective interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- Self-motivated and results oriented, capable of working autonomously or collaboratively
- Effective task prioritization
- Ability to adapt to new situations / challenges and embrace change and new ideas
