Job Details :

Position Title : Professor, Protection, Security and Investigation

Status : Full-Time Academic

Faculty / Department : Faculty of Social & Community Services

Campus / Location : Lakeshore Campus

Salary : Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.

Timeline : Interviews are expected to begin the week of May 13, 2024

What you will do :

The successful candidate will be required to teach a range of courses in the Protection, Security and Investigations diploma program.

The incumbent will demonstrate competencies in cybersecurity, risk management, security management, physical security systems, and / or online investigations that can be translated into existing and new PSI curriculum.

Although expected to teach in all aspects of the PSI program, expertise and extensive knowledge skill and proven experience in these areas are required.

The successful candidate may be required to teach additional courses as program needs dictate. Teaching assignments may also include courses in a range of related programs at the college diploma and / or Ontario graduate certificate level.

The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design / revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement;

work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations. Teaching may be assigned at the Lakeshore campus.

The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry and community ties.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role :

Education :

The successful candidate will have, at minimum, a master’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information security, or engineering.

A doctorate degree is preferred. Risk management and project management credentials would be an asset. In addition, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in cybersecurity, as well as teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

It is preferred that the candidate hold one of the following certifications : CISSP, CISM, or CEH.

Experience :

Demonstrated ability to teach a number of courses offered by the college is required, along with specialized skills in the following areas : ability to translate theory into practical application, demonstrated engagement with the field including emerging issues and trends, ability to supervise work integrated learning experiences, ability to participate in industry-led or community-based applied research, demonstrated potential to assume broader academic leadership responsibilities evidenced by superior written and oral communication, mediation, teamwork, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Scholarship and peer-reviewed publications will be an asset and will be required for the ongoing success of the candidate.

In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging;

be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
