About the role

We’re looking for a Claims Technical Consultant to join our growing Property team!

This opportunity can be in any of the following Atlantic region locations : Dartmouth NS, Dieppe NB or St John's N.L.

What you’ll do here :

  • Participate in the review and update of claims standards and procedures by ensuring that they comply with our contracts and the applicable legislation and case law.
  • Be a resource to managers for technical quality, complaints, training and underwriting.
  • Ensure consistency of the responses provided by various team members.
  • Work with the different regions on streamlining the Standards & Procedures.
  • Provide a presence as a Standards & Procedures representative in various committees, meetings and projects.
  • Maintain close ties with the underwriting technical teams to ensure that the positions taken are in line with underwriting intentions.
  • Support operations with respect to Standards & Procedures upon activation of the Disaster Plan.
  • Keep up to date on changes to insurance products and underwriting in order to inform claims colleagues.
  • Participate in the insurance form revision projects and participate in the analysis of new insurance products.

What you bring to the table :

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance products in both personal and business lines.
  • 10 years of experience in insurance claims including a minimum of 5 years in property claims.
  • Training experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and insight.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Can lead meetings and projects.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) is considered an asset
