Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Procurement to lead our company's procurement operations.

As the Director of Procurement, you will play a pivotal role at EMS-Tech Inc. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization through leadership of our procurement team, implementing strategy, , policies and processes, and managing suppliers to deliver on-time, on-budget, compliant and high quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project purchasing, ensuring quality, compliance, schedule, budget and project requirements are met, including working with engineering and projecting management to leverage procurement efficiencies across multiple projects in multiple locations simultaneously, and identification of risks and opportunities.
  • Manage, maintain, and create corporate purchasing processes, framework and requirements as defined by company policies and Quality Management System.
  • Develop procurement strategies alongside company goals and objectives across other functional areas and business units.
  • Maintain and build relationships with existing suppliers, and research, source, access, and develop relationships with new suppliers, to increase overall value provided to the business and meet business needs.
  • Develop and maintain procurement metrics to drive continuous improvement and optimization of company resources (financial and non-financial).

Leadership

Direct and maintain supervision of the members within the procurement team. Assign and outline work; advise on technical and commercial problems;

review work for accuracy.

  • Make recommendations to the Management team for recruitment, hiring, and performance management for subordinates within the Procurement team.
  • Mentor less experienced personnel.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively and accurately with customers, suppliers, and other team members in both oral and written formats.
  • Provide regular project status reports, and ad hoc reports, to support the Management team.
  • Lead supplier communications and negotiations on terms, pricing, and delivery.

Physical Conditions / Demands

  • Normal office conditions, supplier visits (i.e. fabrication shops and manufacturing facilities and project sites (i.e. bulk handling facilities that have specialized safety requirements).
  • Domestic and International travel : flight, car (driven or self-driven) , train, bus.
  • Capable of walking, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Capable of working in varying environmental conditions necessitating exposure to heat, humidity, cold, wind and rain.
  • Clear vision (with correction, not a problem).

Entrance Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field and a minimum of 10 years of relatable experience.
  • P. Eng. License in Ontario, other Canadian province, or territory, or recognized international equivalent designation is preferred.
  • An accreditation related to Procurement and / or supply chain management would be an asset. Education equivalencies will be considered.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills to develop internal relationships / partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
