Job duties

• Devising viable plans for electrical installations
• Laying conduit in walls, temporary partitions, and other concealed areas
• Pulling wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors in wood frame and steel stud / concrete constructions (high rise residential / commercial)
• Inspecting and maintaining existing electrical systems
• Providing preliminary planning, sketches, and estimates for installation, repair, upgrade, and maintenance of electrical systems
• Interpreting and reading blueprints and electrical drawings to layout devices and equipment
• Understanding of low voltage controls and control systems
• Design and layout of panels and junction boxes
• Use of various hand tools, power tools and speciality tools as tasks require
• Ability to work with concrete slabs (i.e., lay-out and piping)
• Installation of distribution equipment, cables, and accessories
• Installation and wiring of, fixtures, devices, mechanical equipment, and other electrical components.
• Troubleshooting malfunction electrical systems and components, hvac and machinery
• Ability to use meters and testing instruments to analyze electrical systems
• Ability to follow all safety practices and procedures and recognize potential hazards
• Understanding of electrical code and industry best practices

Terms of employment

The position is indeterminate, full-time (40 hours per week).

Expected Employment Start Date : as soon as possible

Wage

$27.50 / h

Skills requirements Education and Work experience

Education :

• Secondary (high) school required
• Post-secondary degree is an asset

Work Experience :

• Minimum a year of experience working as an electrical apprentice or similar required
• Knowledge of electrical system, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repair required
• Experience pulling wire required
• Ability to read and interpret prints for suite rough wiring steel stud / concrete buildings required
• Knowledge of electrical code
• Experience with distribution and other industrial equipment required
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
• Knowledge of electrical system design is an asset
• Experience in the renewable energy field is an asset

Language requirements :

Ability to communicate both written and verbally in English is required
