About the Job :
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team :
- Provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health / Health Promotion model
- Translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health enhancing behaviours to diverse individuals, families, and population groups through universal and targeted interventions, programs and advocacy
- Offers services in communities, schools, homes and outreach locations to individuals, families and communities
Inherent in the role are knowledge, skills and abilities specific to health promotion, epidemiology, community development, primary health care, social determinants of health and illness, and disease and injury prevention
This is a permanent part-time (0.76 FTE) opportunity.
Days of work are Monday to Thursday from 08 : 18 to 16 : 30.
About this location / unit :
Ashcroft and Cache Creek are small communities with one of the best climates in BC, having mild winters, and warm summers, with little precipitation.
The mountains are only a few miles away. Skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming, and biking opportunities are within easy drives.
While the health site is located in and named after the Ashcroft community (population 1,800), the Village of Cache Creek (population 1,200) is 10 km away.
The site provides service to both communities and the surrounding area, a total population of approximately 7,000.
Please note that travel is a requirement for this position and transportation arrangements must meet the Employer’s requirements.
You are required to hold a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to drive a personal car on mileage and / or be assigned a fleet vehicle as a condition of employment.
