Position Summary

BCIT’s Operations Management department is looking for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE, 15 contact hours) Instructor to teach courses in the areas of Business Systems, Business Intelligence / Analytics, and IT Management.

Duties & Responsibilities We are seeking an instructor committed to quality and innovation in meeting our students’ learning needs, and who values the importance of teamwork in the workplace.

Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Current experience involving the application of information technology to business process requirements.
  • Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in a collegial environment.
  • Ability to lead other instructors and be led by other instructors in a team-teaching model.
  • Ability to teach in the following areas : Business Systems (Microsoft 365 : OneDrive, Word, Excel (including Power Query), PowerPoint, and Access)Strong Foundation in SQL : Proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) including understanding of queries, joins, subqueries, unions, and CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete).

Database Design and Modeling : Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical database design. Knowledge of normalization, entity-relationship (ER) modeling, and use of modeling tools.

Familiarity with ERP / CRM / SCM and the role these systems play in business operations.Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence : Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and business intelligence tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary institution.
  • IT consulting experience.
  • Recent leadership / management experience in the business IT community.
  • Master’s Degree or in progress, in a related field to business or information technology, or equivalent business IT experience (approx. 10 years).
  • PMP certification.
