We are looking for a Strategic Account Manager to be responsible for driving accelerated growth of BASF’s agricultural product portfolio to designated distribution management, maintaining and building good business / trade relationships with designated distributors and linked accounts.
The Strategic Account Manager is the central and coordinating BASF contact for all facets of the BASF business relationship with designated distribution.

Developing and implementing a value-based Account Plan for each customer based on their unique needs, interests, and business goals and objectives to maximize sales opportunities.
Developing annual POG and Purchase plans for individual channel partners.
- Developing and maintaining good business / trade relationships with designated distributors and linked accounts.
- Communicating and promoting BASF marketing, sales and technical programs to designated accounts and key personnel to drive business and achieve sales goals.
- Initiating and coordinating strategic planning sessions with designated accounts that ensure business / action plans are developed, implemented and updated on a regional basis.
- Taking an active role in assisting the National Account Manager with Linked Account Call Preparations, Call Plans and issues resolution.
- Communicating business issues and possible alternatives to BASF management and working with the appropriate BASF areas to implement solutions.
- Supporting, cooperating and closely coordinating actions and plans with sales / marketing teams to ensure objectives align with accounts and are achieved.
If you have...
- A Bachelor Degree in Science, preferably Agriculture, Business or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in field sales, management, marketing, business development. Other business related experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of the manufacturer / distributor business relationship.
- Proven track record of success selling to distributors.
- Demonstrated success in budget management in a sales environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
- Ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel overnight / weekly. Minimum 30-40% overnight travel, dependent on season.
