In this role, you’ll be joining our Halifax office, while also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid work model. In recent years, we have prioritized significant investments in our physical office space to provide a bright, vibrant, highly functional, technologically advanced, and collaborative working environment for our team.
Regardless of your physical location, you will have the ability to collaborate seamlessly with EXP’s multidisciplinary team from within the region and across the company on some of Atlantic Canada’s largest and most exciting projects! If desired, you will also be given the opportunity to contribute to unique and challenging projects outside of Atlantic Canada as well.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Prepare drawings, specifications and reports necessary to deliver a project
- Create project specific details to clarify project scope and create building sections to assist with interference coordination between building systems.
- Prepare calculations to size electrical services and prepare equipment schedules that are project specific. Coordinate with necessary project team members to review these services.
Ensure that a complete and correct design is achieved
- Respond to both internal and external communication regarding project or design status; report to the Buildings and Industrial Engineering manager and / or project manager regarding the design status
- Conduct facility condition assessments; Feasibility studies, design briefs, options evaluations
- Create design drawings in AutoCAD and REVIT
- Undertake field investigations (. building condition assessments, field measurements, preliminary reports
- Conduct technical code & standard reviews and technical calculations to support building systems designs and reports
- Communicate with clients, project stakeholders and multi-disciplinary team members using Microsoft Teams and other tools
- Support clients during tendering and construction, including site inspections, site reports and monitoring of contractor progress
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant buildings and industrial experience
- Professional Engineer ( licensed withEngineers Nova Scotia (ENS), or eligible for immediate registration
- Background in preparation of construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates
- A solid understanding of electrical design, construction, project and budget management, and proposal preparation
- Knowledge of the national building code, CSA and Canadian Electrical Code
- REVIT / BIM proficiency is considered a strong asset
- Able to work in a deadline-driven environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, products
- Experience with Energy modelling and energy auditing for energy efficiency, Renewable energy, power generation, LEED, Green Globes are considered an asset
