The has deep expertise in multiple areas of codes & standards and exercises strategic and proactive influence both internally and externally as part of their role.
In some situations, the engineer may take the responsibility for managing and executing of codes and standards-related issues and plans within KONE Canada.
In this role, you will be expected to :
Work closely with various stakeholders ensuring that KONE equipment and solutions comply with applicable regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Collaborate proactively with standardization & regulatory bodies and trade associations, contributing to and influencing through their work to further the interests of customers and KONE’s commitment to safety, quality & sustainability.
Ensure that critical information is shared in a timely manner within KONE, and capabilities relating to codes and standards are continuously developed.
Essential Functions :
Responsible for managing, executing, and actively contributing to codes and standards-related issues, plans, and compliance within the unit and / or team, ensuring KONE products and services meet relevant standards throughout the lifecycle.
Actively supporting product compliance reviews. Responsible for escalating issues where needed and ensures their resolution.
Supporting field operations by handling conformity procedures and legal processes related to product compliance matters, while also assessing and recommending changes in case of planned deviations from standards, ensuring safety risk assessments are considered where applicable.
Reviewing KONE Project drawings and documents, and certify them in the capacity of a P.Eng licensed in each province.
Representing KONE interests and positions professionally, engaging with entities such as Notified bodies, regulators, standardization work groups, and trade associations, while also volunteering for committee assignments and task groups critical to KONE's interests.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A Professional Engineer designation in Ontario is required as a minimum with the possibility of being licensed as a Professional Engineer in all other Canadian provinces.
Experience
10+ years of work experience in the elevator industry with core mechanical design experience
Solid knowledge of the B-44 Elevator code and National Building Code of Canada as it pertains to elevators
Working in global cross-functional teams both internally and externally.
