About the Program
The Supportive Environments and Experiences for Development (SEED) program is a national early childhood development (ECD) initiative coordinated by the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada.
SEED targets parents and other primary caregivers of Ismaili children from birth to four years of age. The purpose of the program is to support parents and families in their engagement and involvement in their children's learning and development during the early years.
Weekly group sessions enable experience based facilitated sessions for parents / caregivers and their children and promote music and movement, early literacy, spirituality and faith based, and school readiness experiences.
This posting is specifically seeking a Vice Principal for Downtown, Burnaby Lake and Ismaili Centre Jamatkhanas.
About the Role
The SEED Vice Principal's role is to provide overall coordination and management for the implementation of the SEED program in their Centre.
This includes the following responsibilities :
- Maintain ongoing positive rapport with families and volunteers within Centre
- Maintain ongoing positive rapport with Jamati Mukhi-Kamadia Sahebs and IVC leadership
- Maintain ongoing positive relationships with the ITREB Pre-Primary / BUI Program at your centre
- Communicate with families and volunteers the SEED centre and training schedules in a timely manner
- Work in collaboration with the ECD Member to ensure that the centre is implementing standardized regional procedures to ensure quality management and delivery of the program
- Participate in monthly regional calls with the national team and provide centre updates
- Market and recruit new centre volunteers to grow the program
- Ensure the SEED space is treated appropriately and with reverence during the program activities
- Ensure the SEED space is cleaned up and left appropriately for other community services when the program ends

- Maturity, reliability, flexibility, professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience and skill in working with children and families
- Previous experience as a SEED facilitator an asset but not required
- Enthusiasm for working with young children
- First aid training to be completed within 90 days of beginning position (preferred but not required)
- Criminal background check to be completed within 90 days of beginning position (cost to be covered for you)
