The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area.
Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.
Employment terms :
- Position type : Full time Contractual - between 30 and 40 hours per week according to the needs.
- Length of contract : The position will end as of January 10, 2025.
- Work location : 51 Metropolitan Ave. in Sackville NS, but the coordinator is responsible for the kettles in Bedford / Sackville / Dartmouth.
- The wage is $20 per hour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below :
- Attend a day of training / orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset.
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City / Assistant Coordinator.
- Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
- Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign.
- Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers.
- Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
- Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis).
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions / queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.
Experience :
- A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
- Money handling experience is an asset.
- Related experience is an asset.
PREFERRED SKILLS / CAPABILITIES :
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
- A Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required.
- Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 25 lbs.).
- Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
- Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
