Description

The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Schedule and maintain volunteers for the kettle season.
• Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner for the kettles.
• Ensure that each location has necessary supplies for the volunteers.
• Make sure kettle counters are set up and have necessary supplies.
• Schedule volunteers for drop off and pick-ups of kettles each day.
• Keep a good relationship with each location where we have the kettles.
• Daily deposits at the bank.
• Perform other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

• This is a temporary position based on 35 hours per week.
• Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.

Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays.

• Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
• Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
• Ability to lift / move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) in a safe manner.
• Local travel may be associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

Completed High School or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE :

• Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
• Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

• Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.

e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
