Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority) invites applications for the Microbiology Technologist role.

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient and staff safety is a priority. The role requires continuous improvement of quality and safety in all aspects.

Reporting to the Supervisor or delegate, the Microbiology Technologist performs established microbiology laboratory procedures, including analysing to detect and identify bacteria and clinically significant organisms.

Qualifications

• Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
• Graduation from a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Completion of microbiology related courses within the last two years or one (1) year recent, related experience within the last six years in the microbiology section of the laboratory, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
