WCLC is looking for a strategic Solutions Architect to guide technology direction, design enterprise solutions, and advise leaders on how tech can drive organizational goals. As a Solutions Architect, you will serve as a strategic advisor, architecture leader, and integrator , responsible for translating business objectives into scalable, secure, and future ready technology solutions. You will help define the architectural vision, coach teams, and play a key role in delivering capabilities that support WCLC’s long term strategy.
The Role
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) is looking to add a Solution Architect to our IT Architecture department.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design of scalable, secure, and future ready technology solutions.
- Provide strategic consulting to business and IT stakeholders, ensuring decisions support organizational priorities and future capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies—including AI‑driven platforms, integration patterns, cloud services, and data architectures—to ensure WCLC remains adaptable and competitive.
- Create and maintain solution designs across business, data, application, integration, security, and infrastructure domains.
- Ensure architectural integrity, scalability, security, and alignment to enterprise standards.
- Address non-functional requirements, including resilience, performance, compliance, and cybersecurity.
- Provide technical leadership through all stages of solution delivery—concept, design, build, test, and transition to operations.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and propose innovative technology-enabled solutions.
- Support the development of business cases, RFIs / RFPs, and total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations.
- Connect strategy to execution by ensuring solutions are designed for measurable impact, cost-effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
- Develop solution roadmaps in alignment with organizational strategy and technology health assessments.
- Champion enhancements to WCLC’s architectural processes and governance practices.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a computer-related discipline or equivalent experience.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT and at least 5 years’ experience with enterprise-level solutions.Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.Strong understanding of software engineering, system design, and solution lifecycle management.Expertise with commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) systems, cloud platforms, integration patterns, and enterprise-grade architectures.Familiarity with common IT architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT, Zachman, SABSA.Experience with RFI / RFP and TCO.Knowledge of AI / ML trends, cloud-native architectures, security best practices, and data-driven solution approaches.Exceptional ability to collaborate with business leaders, translate complex technical ideas, and build trusted advisory relationships.Strong facilitation, documentation, and presentation skills.Experience in business analysis and requirements gathering is an asset.Familiarity with Agile or DevSecOps practices is an asset.Knowledge of the Lottery and Gaming industry is also an asset.Who we are
