Community Worker Summer Student
Position DescriptionCareer Objectives : To develop and enhance skills in community workTo develop skills in a multi-ethnic environmentTo develop leadership skillsTo develop organizational skillsTo develop team building skills The summer student will provide support to staff helping with the foodbank and summer camps.
The student will help preparing hampers and distributing hampers to clients. The student will provide support to clients accessing the foodbank.
The student will provide professional, friendly and knowledgeable service to all who access the food bank. The student will assist program directors in running summer camps during the summer.
The student will also provide assistance with administrative tasks when required.Duties will include : Completion of client intake using the database providedStocking shelves, sorting produce and arranging items to ensure smooth and safe packing processAssisting in receiving food donationsCompletion of all records for food bankEnsuring confidentiality of clientsAdhere to Health and Safety ProtocolsAssisting in opening and closing procedures of foodbank programGreeting individuals who enter the buildingProvide phone reception services when needed.
Supporting staff with administrative tasksHelp with the summer / family camps Qualifications : Experience in some leadership rolesAbility to move and lift up to 30 poundsExperience handling confidential informationRespectful and kind demeanorPassionate about social work and / or helping marginalized clienteleMust be enrolled in a university or College program or just completed final yearEligible for Canada Summer Jobs must be between 19 and 30 years of age.
