ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - SUBSTATION P&C- Markham, ON

The client is an established but eager to expend their multi disciplinary engineering firm. They specialize in high voltage utilities, industrial automation, surface and underground mining.

The role is ideal for an established Electrical Engineer with experience working in transmission and distribution, mining, or heavy industry looking for a lead role, develop and maintain new clientele and work towards becoming a principal Engineer of the firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Carry out / review / analyze complex technical studies and project scopes for HV Substations and complex power distribution systems.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment / projects. In depth knowledge of applicable standards, OESC, IEEE, UL, CSA and IEC
• Provide Substation and other electrical systems equipment specification and technical tender packages.
• Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, good engineering practice and excellent constructability.
• Review of internal and external designs and provide P.Eng. certification as required.
• Resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
• Prepare, review design-based memorandum, detailed engineering scope and guide the assigned discipline engineers to align the engineering deliverables according to project requirements.
• Maintain complete project documentation with respect to engineering studies and calculations, all design packages, as-built requirements and project closing.
• Develop relay setting calculations and coordination report using ETAP, EasyPower.
• Selection of equipment and material and preparation of specifications for material, equipment, construction and installation work.

• Maintain good working relationship with internal and external groups that support project such as other Engineering disciplines, Drafting, Procurement, Construction and Project Management etc.
• Focus on continuous development of the individual members of the team, and the team as a whole.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the PEO.
• A minimum of 10 years experience required for Senior positions.
• Knowledge of modern power system, power system protection and relay technologies.
• Strong client focus
• Significant designer experience working in the consulting engineering space is a requirement.
• These positions require a high level of interpersonal communication skills, as well as demonstrated design experience.
• Occasional travel to site locations is required.
