We have an exciting opening for a knowledgeable, result-driven, and enthusiastic Senior Water Resources Professional to help lead a municipal water resource engineering practice.
The preferred candidate will have a strong technical background in water resource engineering, experience working with municipalities and approval agencies in Southern Ontario and have a strong desire to mentor and develop staff.
R.J. Burnside serves our clients with multiple offices; proximity to our clients allows us to experience their community needs and better develop infrastructure solutions.
The selected individual will work closely with the Senior Vice President and team members from various offices to further develop the public sector water resource practice.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this position will be responsible for business development, proposal preparation, project management, and delivery of projects in any of the following areas :
- Floodplain studies
- Watershed studies
- Stormwater Management facility retrofits
- Approval authority permitting
- Municipal Peer Review
- Stormwater management and drainage design for various municipal infrastructure including :
- Road design and reconstruction
- Bridges and culverts
- Transit
- Solid waste management
- Public facilities
As a senior professional within the organization, you will have responsibilities that include the following :
- Lead or support project / client managers in establishing appropriate scope, budget, and timelines for deliverables; and work with teams, throughout the offices, to implement delivery;
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet the client's needs;
- Manage project financial performance and help manage team utilization;
- Provide mentorship and training to a team of water resource engineers, and technical staff and participate actively and formally in their development plans;
- Participate in the development of the annual business plan;
- Assist in client development and prepare proposals; and
- Other duties as assigned
Professional Knowledge & Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a Water Resources Engineer with a minimum of 12 years of experience with the following qualifications, experience, and skills :
- A registered professional engineer
- Experience as a project manager for stormwater / water resource projects
- A high level of expertise in a wide range of stormwater and water resource engineering applications such as InfoWorks, InfoWater, PCSWMM, SWMHYMO, Visual OTTHYMO and HEC-RAS
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and data management skills
- Experience leading and mentoring staff teams
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects concurrently; and
- A valid Ontario driver's license and vehicle
The following experience and skills are considered additional assets :
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and / or MicroStation Inroads; and
- Formal project management training, (PMP designation or similar)
