0 Start Date August 26, 2024Salary : Salary based on experienceClosing Date July 15, 2024 Requirements : The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience : 4 year degree in Psychology, Health or Social Work, with a minimum of one to three years of experience working with persons or children with disabilities.
Experience an educational setting. Experience providing family support, parent coaching or interventions to children and families.
Experience working as a team member within a multidisciplinary team. Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to records management.
Success Coach : To provide timely and effective support within the school setting for students diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Involve the student and caregiver in a Services plan that will include positive strategies to support students with FASD.
Assist students suspected of having FASD to obtain an assessment and diagnosis. ?Meet with parents to debrief results of assessments ?
Consult with teachers to discuss the referral and provide feedback regarding the assessment as necessary ?Submit written reports to the School Principal or designate and to the office of the Director of Inclusive Learning of each assessment conducted ?
Report progress, outcomes and accountability to the FMPSD and FMCSD Directors of Inclusive Learning. Work directly with students to develop life skills, appropriate social interactions, routines, problem-solving skills and provide support for activities for daily living.
Maximize student engagement for students with FASD by targeting the increase of school attendance, increase in extracurricular activities and improve school and community behaviour.
Provide and coordinate caregiver support through supportive counselling, provision of FASD informed parenting strategies, before, during and after school hours for FASD.
Advocate for students with FASD by expanding awareness through case conferencing and wrap around meetings. Submit professional referrals to other service agencies as appropriate Synthesize and share current research and successful practices to support students with FASD.
Work within schools to provide students affected by FASD with supports and services to support individual students and their families / caregivers, school staff and other community partners in a collaborative and team wrap around approach to services.
Enhance the capacity of teachers and schools to meet the educational needs of children and youth (ECS to Grade 12) with FASD Provide and coordinate professional development opportunities in the area of FASD for school teams and caregivers.
Provide professional development to staff as needed and requested an provide teaching recommendations for students and assist teachers with understanding of same Other duties as assigned.
