Our private client has a large personal estate just outside the Calgary city limits, which requires a dedicated, loyal, hard working leader to join their groundskeeping team in a full time, permanent, year-round position.
The Lead Groundskeeper will be maintaining this beautiful property hands on while motivating, enabling, and leading a small team of groundskeepers.
The grounds crew who manage the property are a collaborative and hard working group. They are seeking a like-minded individual wanting stability and longevity in their landscaping / groundskeeping career.

Duties and Responsibilities :
The key job functions are :
- Performing lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, sod laying, and fertilizing
- Assisting with pest and weed management without using pesticides or herbicides
- Preparing, reviewing, and managing groundskeeping budget with Property Manager
- Completing daily paperwork (hazard assessments, timesheets, expense reports)
- Operating various machinery including ride-on lawn mowers, push mowers, trimmers, blowers, trucks, and trailers
- Servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment
- Supervising contractors, reviewing invoices, and submitting them to Operations Manager
- Procuring groundskeeping supplies and arranging pick-up / delivery services
- Maintaining water features
- Assisting with irrigation system maintenance
- Assisting with planting annuals and perennials
- Collaborating with Horticulturist for edible garden planning and maintenance
- Assisting Horticulturist with plant ordering based on budget and improvement areas
- Clearing snow and ice from walkways and driveways when necessary
- Caring for ornamental and native trees
- Planting trees and shrubs
- Removing trees, hauling logs, and splitting wood
- Weeding and watering gardens and other areas as needed
- Detailing vehicles and equipment
- Keeping the shop and kitchen area clean
- Fostering positive relationships with coworkers
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle to get to and from the property
- Clean criminal background check
- Valid vaccine passport
- Ability to lift pounds (pre-employment fit test to be completed)
- Willing and able to work overtime as needed
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and function effectively in a team environment
Experience :
- years working in landscaping / snow removal
- Ability to communicate, adapt to change, and provide effective solutions to practical issues, all while working closely with other team members and contractors, are critical
- Horticulture and groundskeeping experience is an asset
- Design experience is considered an asset
- Ability to operate a bobcat, tractor, truck trailer, mower, and other small equipment
Base Salary : $,+ per year

Work Hours :
- hours per week (M-F)
- Overtime to be expected in peak seasons (- hours of OT a week)
- Occasional weekend and holiday shifts will be required
Remote Work :
This position is not remote. You are required to be on site.
