Safety and Training Supervisor

McCluskey Transportation is currently seeking an experienced Safety and Training Supervisor to join our team in the GTA. This key role provides sound safety and training leadership and support for our team of dedicated professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement proactive local safety programs, policies, safe work procedures and initiatives that improve local safety performance and compliance with both internal and external occupational health and safety and transportation safety requirements
- Be present in the operation to build relationships with frontline employees, lead small group safety meetings (toolbox talks), support training drills, identify hazards and foster the local safety culture
- Conduct investigations of reported hazards, near misses and incidents
- Manage collision files in collaboration with the company's adjustors and insurers
- Respond on-scene to significant collisions and other safety incidents
- Develop and present material at employee safety meetings
- Support the local joint occupational health and safety committee meetings, inspections and other activities
- Report and manage workplace injury claims and cases
- Monitor operations to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements
- Own and manage the Corporate Safety KPI Process and Cost of Safety reporting
- Assist in development of Policies and Procedures within the Safety Management System
- Maintain current and accurate safety records
- Conduct daily classroom sessions and provide effective Class B school bus training to new trainees and the continued education of current drivers
- Prepare information packages for new trainees and submit training and trainer reports
- Provide company bi-annual road tests and assessments
- Be accessible to drivers with any questions or concerns they may have with Training & Development as well as providing continuous improvement to further develop skills as a School Bus Driver
Desired Qualifications and Experience :
- Completion of a college or university degree in a relevant discipline; Occupational Health & Safety preferred
- Valid Class B driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Completion of the PRIDE Program or greater (Signing Authority for Driver Certification Program)
- Previous driver training experience
- Previous experience in a school bus operation / commercial driving / transportation industry
- Professional development (or demonstrated experience) related to fleet safety, with advanced knowledge of the National Safety Code
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred. CRST, CHSC, NCSO / CHSO or similar designations considered an asset
- Knowledge of applicable driving regulations, HSE regulations, codes, practices, and standards
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new applications, including internally developed software
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Annual Compensation : $60,000 - $65,000 plus benefits package
