Opportunity

Our Ontario West based Transportation Business Line has a need for a Project Controller in a full‑time permanent capacity, based in one of our offices in southwestern Ontario (Hamilton, Waterloo, or London). As Project Controller you will be working closely with the team of Project Managers and Leadership in the Transportation Business Line to provide financial and change management support on scope, schedule, and cost throughout the life cycle of projects. Our projects are multi‑discipline – engineering, water, landscape architectural, planning, etc. – that can include some or all of the following project phases : conceptual, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction phases. As a project controls professional at Stantec, you will utilize your expertise in financial planning, scheduling, cost controls, communications, and problem solving in a fast‑paced, professional environment to assist the Transportation team with project delivery and program development.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with project managers to regularly develop and analyze project forecasts (which includes project schedule and costs) and communicate results to upper‑level management.
• Assist project managers with the preparation of budgets for new projects and change orders in conjunction with clients and other team members, along with reviewing WIP / AR and monthly invoices.
• Monitor the progress of large projects on a regular basis to evaluate potential financial risks and ensure financial health and proper tracking in accordance with standards.
• Review and provide strategic analysis of financial statements and provide commentary on required troubleshooting to improve financial results.
• Perform project internal audits and financial reconciliations, along with reviewing newly created projects with the internal financial system.
• Support development, administration, and monitoring of project sub‑consultant agreements.
• Liaise between project technical leads and project managers to monitor and control project resourcing and accounting.
• Assist project managers with compliance of Stantec and ISO standards for Project Management, including participation in audits.

Education and Experience

Typical office environment : working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
