Position Summary
Thales Canada, Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Army’s Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions on a daily basis.
Together with industry partners, Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations, support communications between joint and allied forces, and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.
Thales Canada is looking for people interested in directly contributing to the evolution of advanced digitized operations for the Canadian Army into the future, both in Canada and on overseas deployments.
There are opportunities available in each of the four LC4ISR programs, which include :
- System of systems engineering and integration;
- Core network;
- Applications; and
- Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR).
This role Business Intelligence Report Developer will be responsible to support the Performance Manager in the development of Performance system for Thales’ Non-Combatant In-Service Support programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for implementing the performance system within POWERBI, with oversight from the Performance Manager.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Specifically, the Business Intelligence Report Developer is responsible for :
- Develop Analytics Tools within Microsoft PowerBI which may include the following :
- Connect and shape data using :
- o Data transformations, grouping and aggregation;
o Structured and un-structured data sources; and,
o Aggregated data sources.
- Create a relational data models using both Relational and Dimensional schemas.
- Calculate analytic expressions using DAX / SQL, ranging from simple calculations to temporal logistics.
- Apply data visualization best practices using :
- o Cards & KPIs;
- o Conditional formatting and filtering;
o Drill-up, drill-down & drill-through.
- Supporting the roll-out and commissioning of the Performance Management System;
- Fostering team work in the direct area of responsibility and with other teams across the program, where appropriate;
- Effectively communicating with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications and one-on-one communication.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise report development : 3 years;
- Experience developing, designing and / or testing SQL solutions : 3 years;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and analytical abilities;
- A degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent;
- A positive and energized attitude.
Regulatory Compliance Requirements :
- Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance
- Ability to meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program (including ITAR-controlled articles)
Special Position Requirements
- Hybrid position. Full time, standard business hours.
- Possibility of occasional travel to customer site for technical support / integration activities.
- Possibility of occasional travel within Canada for planning events.
