Be our next Senior Structural Engineer
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Lead and manage the design and analysis of structural systems including, but not limited to, buildings, miscellaneous structures, equipment foundations, bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and lifting devices.
- Develop and review structural engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Perform structural analysis using advanced software tools to assess the integrity, stability, and load-bearing capacity of structures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior / intermediate engineers, reviewing their work for accuracy and adherence to design objectives.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to develop comprehensive structural design solutions that meet project requirements and objectives.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures, identify potential issues, and provide recommendations for remedial action.
- Participate in project meetings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to address technical challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure seamless project delivery.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in structural engineering practices, applying them to enhance project efficiency and innovation.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including scope definition and cost estimation, to secure new business opportunities.
- Assist Lead Inspection Engineers on structural inspections of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign supports throughout Ontario
- Communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with internal team members in the development of designs and contract package preparation on transportation structures
- Assist in the review of drawings and associated documentation for compliance with client requirements, organize comments, responses and package submissions for the design and inspection teams
- Assist Engineers in the design and preparation of contract documents, including drawings and calculations, for bridge and transit structures, culverts, and ancillary infrastructure
- Apply advanced engineering techniques to solving engineering analysis / design problems
- Provide assistance in the preparation of proposals to various clients
What your experience looks like
- Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience
- University degree in Civil Engineering with a structural major
- Registered engineer with PEO
- Proven experience as a Senior Structural Engineer, demonstrating progressive responsibility and successful completion of complex structural projects.
- Understanding of carrying out structural designs for various structural elements
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety in complexity, size and scope is an asset
- Prior experience in biennial or structural inspections of bridges and culverts in accordance with OSIM requirements will be considered an asset
- Valid G driver’s license and comfortable driving for extended periods
- In-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design principles, codes, and regulations.
- Understanding that work will combine fieldwork and office / desk activities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices.
- Willingness to travel as required and attend meetings and field visits to client sites
- Knowledge of the following computer programs is also an asset : MicroStation, AutoCAD, SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, P-Frame / S-Frame, STAAD, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
