Our client operating acrossWestern Canada supports multiple energy sectors commercial realestate forestry municipalities and utilities.
Focuses includepreconstruction construction postconstruction requirements andmanaging client’s assets from inception through to theirretirement and reclamation.
Our client isseeking a Health & Safety Coordinator with experienceworking in oilfield environmental or industrial services who willbe responsible for developing implementing and maintaining healthand safety programs to ensure compliance with provincial safetyregulations and exceeding best practices in the industry.
This roleinvolves collaboration with management employees and regulatoryagencies to identify and mitigate workplace hazards conduct safetytraining and investigate incidents.
Role andResponsibilities : Duties include but are not limited to :
Regulatory Compliance
- Workwith the various departments to stay compliant and current in thesafetymandated processes
- Ensure workplacesafety standard compliance and report in a timely and accuratemanner to department managers
- Stay up to datewith safety standards for the provinces of BC andAlberta
- Investigate understand and communicatecompliance regulations for departments based on client needs andproject deliverables
- Develop Health and Safetystrategy and lead operational H&S management systems andactivities to comply with regulations
- Maintainand develop safe work procedures and internal health &safety policies
- Owner of Joint Health andSafety Committee and ensure all members have training.
Professional & Technical Advice
- Provide recommendations for programpolicy process or procedure changes that promote a strong safetyculture and safer workplace
- Assist withincident investigations and / or incidents of injury or propertydamage and ensure compliance with applicable provincial OHSlegislation and COR
OperationalCompliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with the Contract ManagementProgram
- Incident Reporting andInvestigations
- COR audit preparation andcorrective actions
- Summarizing weekly stats tothe Executive Leadership Team
- Fireside Chatupdates
- Facilitating monthly safetymeetings
- Site visits and inspections completedand documented
Qualifications andskills :
- Postsecondary education inOccupational Health & Safety or relateddiscipline
- A CRSP (Canadian Registered SafetyProfessional) CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) or NCSO(National Construction Safety Officer) designation isdesirable.
- 2 to 5 years of Occupational Health& Safety experience developing and promoting safetyprograms / culture within a company
- Expertunderstanding of the OH&S regulations for the provinces ofBC and Alberta
- Working knowledge of complianceprocesses including ISN Comply Works and Avetta
- Experience working within the oil and gas industry wouldbe considered an asset.
- Effectivecommunication skills written and verbal and the ability to exercisesound judgment
- Ability and willingness totravel from time to time when required (i.e. site visits andinspections corporate presentations)
