Senior Systems Analyst (Cloud & Infrastructure Lead)

POSITION OVERVIEW

A growing technology team is seeking a highly experienced and Senior Systems Analyst to join their IT operations in Edmonton, AB . This is a crucial leadership role where the top priorities are enhancing and securing the Cloud Infrastructure and managing the core Network and Security needs. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can also guide the team in new areas like DevOps, supporting the organization's technology environment across 40+ locations in Canada and the US.

Employment Type : Permanent Full-time

Experience Required : Minimum 5+ years in a senior, relevant technical role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cloud Infrastructure & Administration (Top Priority Skill)

Design, implement, and manage robust hybrid cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and the M365 ecosystem .

Ensure system stability, performance tuning, and cost optimization across all cloud environments.

2. Network & Cybersecurity (Top Priority Skill / Instant Hire Factor)

Manage core network and security infrastructure.

Conceptual knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and Meraki network gear is required , as these tools are basically used to manage all infrastructure and security needs.

Proactively manage the organization's security posture and implement controls using tools like those within the M365 ecosystem.

3. DevOps & Automation Guidance (Supporting Skill)

Serve as the internal subject matter expert for foundational DevOps and automation , providing guidance to a team that is new to the practice.

Help the Manager demonstrate measurable ROI for new automation initiatives to continue to get leadership buy-in.

Design and implement foundational CI / CD pipelines and deployments using various tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.). The role is hands-on and requires a tech-agnostic approach.

Manage containerized workloads using technologies like Kubernetes or Docker (either is fine).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Leadership :

Minimum 5+ years in a senior systems administration, network infrastructure, or related IT operations role.

Expertise in AWS, Azure, and M365 administration .

Technical Skills :

Cloud Platforms : AWS, Azure, and M365 (including relevant security and administration components).

Network / Security Tools : Conceptual understanding of FortiGate and Meraki is essential.

Automation : Practical experience with CI / CD and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and containerization ( Kubernetes or Docker ).
