Our large Federal Government client seeks the services of a Senior ATIP Consultant. This is a fully remote position which will run until March 31st, 2025, with a strong possibility to renewed for multiple years.

Candidates must possess active Government of Canada SECRET security clearance. This position requires the ability to meticulously analyze records and disclosure packages to resolve complex and sensitive cases, while ensuring compliance with legislation such as the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in providing expert advice to stakeholders, negotiating resolutions for complaints under investigation by the Information and Privacy Commissioner, and synthesizing information from various sources to formulate defensible client positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess requestors' statutory rights to federal information while safeguarding individual privacy.
  • Resolve complex and sensitive cases by analyzing record content, involving consultation with various stakeholders.
  • Evaluate client information for disclosure to diverse parties, including taxpayers, legal representatives, and the public.
  • Offer guidance on interpreting and applying Access to Information Act and Privacy Act regulations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support ATIP-related correspondence.
  • Recommend disclosure or non-disclosure of government information based on Access and Privacy legislation interpretation.
  • Develop and execute strategies to resolve complaints investigated by the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
  • Process and review intricate Access to Information and Privacy requests.
  • Ensure completeness of case files by reviewing requests and obtaining missing information as necessary.
  • Determine statutory rights of requesters to federal information while maintaining privacy standards.
  • Analyze record content to address complex and sensitive cases, involving multiple parties and jurisdictions.
  • Provide interpretation and application advice on Access to Information Act and Privacy Act to stakeholders.
  • Synthesize information to formulate defensible client positions regarding exemption and exclusion provisions.
  • Maintain and update tracking systems for file actions.
  • Negotiate and implement strategies for resolving complaints investigated by the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
  • Resolve complaints under investigation by Information and Privacy Commissioners.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10+ years of work experience at the Senior Analyst level (or higher) in the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) field
  • Active valid Secret security clearance
  • In-depth understanding of Access to Information Act and Privacy Act regulations.
  • Proven experience in analyzing and resolving complex and sensitive cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with tracking systems for file actions.
