Construction Engineer / Project Manager

Kent Fields is a dynamic and growing property development company located in Kentville, Nova Scotia. We build and operate multi-unit residential properties throughout the Annapolis Valley and the South Shore.

In business for 50 years, we currently have 850 residential units in our portfolio with an aggressive growth strategy to add much needed rental units to the marketplace.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Construction Engineer / Project manager will be responsible for overseeing our projects and ensuring their timely completion, while maintaining an overall high level of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are completed within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Provide leadership to the project team on all aspects of the project.
  • Monitor project delivery against timelines to help ensure timely completion.
  • Developing project plans, goals, and budgets and measuring progress against them.
  • Managing contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality and timelines are met.
  • Negotiating contracts with architects, vendors, and contractors ensuring a fair deal for both parties
  • Working with towns and municipalities to ensure all permits and approvals have been obtained.
  • Reviewing and approving project design changes or additions.
  • Ensuring safety is a top priority and making sure all work is being done in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Other duties that may be assigned related to this role.

Qualifications

  • Educational requirements include an engineering technology related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
  • At least 10 years experience in the multi-residential construction industry.
  • Possess an intimate knowledge of all aspects of the construction process.
  • Have knowledge of residential building systems, such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, fire safety, and electrical systems
  • Great organizational skills and the ability to work on several projects at once if needed.
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience managing small to medium construction projects.
  • Experience working with all levels of government.
