The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province.
The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Finance is separated into five work groups (Finance Corporate, Finance Wholesale, Regulatory and Compliance, Finance Retail, and Shared Services) and provides financial services to all LDB departments.
The Finance division provides financial reporting, advisory services, budgeting, capital asset reporting, and financial transactional processing (banking, accounting payable, accounts receivable).
Finance is responsible for the LDB's enterprise risk management program and oversees regulatory compliance for BC liquor manufacturers / warehouses.
About this role :
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Capital and Project Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst, Leases, manages LDB's lease accounting by providing advisory services in the development and monitoring of lease accounting framework.
This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing over 200 lease contracts to assess financial impacts (approx. $200 million) and ensuring that LDB lease accounting is compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting standards and presented accurately on financial statements.
The Senior Financial Analyst, Leases is responsible for compiling and interpreting monthly lease financial results and comparing with the budget allocation to propose recommendations on the financial implications of negotiated lease terms and rates.
This role provides expert financial advice, stewardship, and services with respect to management of costing and budgets relating to lease contracts.
A criminal record check is required.
Successful candidates may be required to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines, as required.

Position requirements :
Education and Experience :
Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) and a membership in good standing with a minimum three (3) years of recent, related experience*.
Note : If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
- Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years and must include the following :
- Experience developing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience :
- Experience in Oracle.
- Experience analyzing contracts to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
