MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that prepares graduates to lead and succeed in nursing practice, and beyond.

The Faculty of Nursing is organized into five departments. Courses delivered within each of these departments are affiliated with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, the Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and other continuing education credentials and learning experiences.

The Department of Nursing Foundations in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commencing July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.

The incumbent will serve as the Chair in International Health (CIH) during the initial three years in the position, with potential for renewal.

The internal research Chair of International Health has been established in partnership with the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre at MacEwan University - .

The mandate of this appointment is to advance and disseminate knowledge, lead research projects and initiatives, and engage with students to facilitate interest and understanding specific to international health.

The focus of the international health-related research should be specific to issues pertinent to Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

MacEwan is seeking a candidate with an active research program grounded in international health research with a focus on Ukraine / Eastern Europe who is a role model and leader in their field of expertise.

The successful candidate will contribute to building a strong culture of research and scholarship within the Faculty of Nursing, across MacEwan, and with key external collaborators and stakeholders locally, nationally, and internationally.

For the duration of the research Chair appointment, in addition to teaching a reduced course load, the successful candidate will receive a stipend for research.

  • The research Chair is expected to : (i) actively lead multidisciplinary / multisectoral research projects and initiatives to advance knowledge in health equity which are pertinent to Ukraine and Eastern Europe;
  • ii) mobilize and disseminate knowledge by facilitating partnerships with health organizations and international partners;

and (iii) enhance student engagement and involvement in the area of international health.

The applicant will hold a graduate degree in nursing or a related field. Doctoral preparation is preferred. Candidates will have notable nursing education experience as well as current active licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

The applicant will have expertise in a specific area of international health as defined above, and a prior record of successful research productivity with an international focus.

A developed program of related research is required, along with a demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with international partners and collaborators.

The applicant should be passionate about building future nursing leaders and have curriculum development experience in health-related education.

The applicant will be a collaborative team member and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service within their role.
