Cybersecurity Architect Advisor (6 Month Contract)

Location : New Westminster, BC / Hybrid

The company is transforming to support further innovation and growth. The company is concerned about the speed and frequency of cyber-attacks, and the effects those attacks are having on the organization and its operational capabilities.

As part of digital transformation, the company wants to modernize its approach to Cybersecurity & IT resiliency and transform securely.

The company has updated its cybersecurity vision and strategy. A transformation plan and roadmap of improvement initiatives have been developed.

The Cybersecurity Architect Advisors will work closely with the Cybersecurity Program Manager, the Cybersecurity & Resiliency team, Enterprise Architecture, and other technical leaders across.

Services

The successful candidate will provide delivery and architecture leadership for the IGA and PAM projects. The specific services include but are not limited to the following :

1 Provides an advanced level of expertise in managing activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.

2 Accountable for production of Solution Architecture Documents, ensuring alignment to the Enterprise Architecture and the overarching IT Strategy through regular collaboration with stakeholders.

3 Clearly communicates the essential elements of the overall solution to ensure the business implications of a design can be understood by impacted teams.

4 Reviews business context for solutions to security challenges as well as defining the lifecycle and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options (which may include RFIs, RFPs, POSs / POVs or prototype development), guiding the selection the most optimal option.

5 Communicates the solution to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing architects and other technical leads in the formalization and adoption of IT security standards and procedures.

Deliverables

The successful candidate will provide the following role specific deliverable-related activities for both IGA and PAM projects :

1 Review internal readiness to implement the project scope and review plans to deploy future capabilities.

2 Review winning vendor proposal prior to MSA / contract award / signing to advise of any commercial risks and / or concerns to bring forward into master services discussion.

3 Review winning vendor proposal prior to MSA / contract award / signing to advise of vendor key personnel selection and / or concerns.

4 Review winning vendor proposal for plan / schedule / scope related risks and concerns to bring forward into Statement of Work discussions ahead of sign-off.

5 Review and advise on vendor schedule and plan deliverables.

6 Review and advise on Project Manager schedule and plan deliverables.

7 Review solutions architecture documentation for completeness, accuracy, and quality.

8 Review and advise on Test Plans completeness and quality.

9 Review and advise on Change Management plans, knowledge transfer and training plans completeness and quality.

10 Review and advise on Proposed Managed Services and Sustainment Models.

11 Other activities requested by the company to support project goals.

Knowledge and Experience

IT security architecture experience is a must-have.

  • Must have 7+ years of implementation / consulting experience in a security-focused role with an emphasis on hands-on secure technical architecture and implementation work in a team setting.
  • Senior level resource with over 20 years IT experience.
  • Over 15 years Project / Program Management experience with a focus in the cybersecurity domain.
  • Over 7 years’ experience with IAM solutions. Direct experience managing the deployment / upgrade of identity product suite at multiple customer sites, preferably in the public sector.
  • Preference for direct experience with the ATLAS project methodology and procurement processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Expert with hands-on infosec and IT resiliency practices for applications, infrastructure, networks, hypervisors / servers, cloud infrastructure and endpoints.
  • Direct experience in or strong knowledge of the following areas : Intrusion prevention and detection processes and technologies;
  • Security threat-risk assessments; User end-point security; Secure Application Development; Network security; Infrastructure vulnerability management;
  • Data Loss Protection; Cloud security (IaaS / SaaS / PaaS); Identity and Access Management; User Entity Behaviour Analytics;

Data security; DAST & SAST, DR & BCP.

  • Advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to Solution. Architecture, with demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical solutions.
  • Hands-on and in-depth experience with network and application-level design security including modern mitigation techniques and best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of coaching and mentoring teams on Solution Architect concepts and methodology.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized guidance and expertise to managers, staff, and customers;

and to develop and manage critical relationships at all levels in the enterprise.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to handle conflict resolution, facilitating discussion and alternatives of different approaches.
  • Solid leadership skills with ability to manage and influence direct or indirect reporting staff, and to provide specialized guidance and expertise to all levels of the organization.
  • Solid planning, organization, and time management skills with strong ability to organize competing priorities.
  • Experience with PCI DSS, NIST CSF and NIST 800-53 control frameworks is highly desired.
  • Information Security Certifications in one or more of the following are an asset : CISSP, CISA, CISM, GISP, GSNA, GSE, CSP, SSCP, Security+.
