Responsibilities

  • Lead the proposal, planning and delivery of consulting projects such as economic impact studies, labour market studies, cost-benefit studies and market studies for clients in the in the private, public, not-for-profit and Indigenous sectors
  • Develop innovative methodologies and models for undertaking economic analysis following best practices.
  • Execute business planning, feasibility studies, strategic planning, operational planning, program review, program re-designs, financial analysis and other forms of management consulting
  • Identify key theoretical issues in engagements, formulating appropriate empirical strategies, understanding complex datasets and synthesizing relevant academic literature
  • Manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing, collection, variance recognition)
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to clients; ensure client needs are met and relationships grow and develop.
  • Review, design and develop high-quality deliverables including reports, presentations and other correspondence
  • Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues or key risks relevant to the client’s business
  • Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and lead the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs
  • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews
  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning related to client and practice management, as well as the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

  • Master’s or PhD in economics
  • CMC, PMP or other related certifications are considered an asset
  • 8 to 9 years of consulting experience, ideally in a client-service environment
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative economic methods and data analysis
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Strong business and practice development skills
  • Demonstration of advanced project management skills and tactics
  • Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills
  • Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills
