Job Title : Business Analyst – Payments Domain (SWIFT | ISO 20022 | RTR | Faster Payments)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Payment’s domain expertise to support end‑to‑end analysis, requirement gathering, and implementation across key payment modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with SWIFT payment flows, ISO 20022 migration, Real-Time / Faster Payments , and strong understanding of banking operations, settlement, compliance, and payment processing ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, SMEs, and technology teams to gather and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
Analyze current-state and future-state payment processing flows, including SWIFT MT / MX messages , clearing, settlement, reconciliation, routing, and exception handling.
Lead workshops to understand business needs related to ISO 20022 migration , new message formats, and enhanced data structures.
Translate business needs into clear, detailed BRDs, FSDs, process flows, and user stories .

Payments Domain Expertise

Conduct deep‑dive analysis of SWIFT MT / MX messages , cross-border payment workflows, and compliance requirements (AML, sanctions, screening).

Support transformation initiatives related to ISO 20022 including data mapping, message validation, and schema alignment.

Work with engineering and architecture teams on RTR (Real-Time Rail) and Faster Payments system capabilities, flows, and integration needs.

Support modernization initiatives across ACH, Wires, RTP, Cross‑border Remittance, and Digital Payments.

Process Mapping & Documentation

Create As‑Is and To‑Be workflows for payment journeys, exceptions, returns, disputes, and message transformations.

Document payment processing logic, message routing rules, downstream impacts, and system behavior under real-time conditions.

Work with QA teams to define test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and support UAT.

Stakeholder Management

Act as a liaison across business, operations, technology, compliance, and vendor / third‑party teams.

Present findings, recommendations, and reporting to leadership stakeholders.

Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure all payment processes align with regulatory expectations (ISO 20022 mandates, SWIFT guidelines, AML / KYC considerations).

Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews related to payment operations.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years as a Business Analyst in Payments, Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech .

Strong knowledge of SWIFT MT / MX messages , SWIFT FIN, cross-border processing, and correspondent banking flows.

Hands‑on experience with ISO 20022 including message schemas (pacs.008, pacs.009, camt messages), data mapping, and testing.

Experience with RTR (Real-Time Rail), Faster Payments, Instant Payments, or Real-Time Clearing platforms.

Strong experience in creating BRD, FSD, user stories, epics, process maps, sequence diagrams .

Comfortable working with XML, JSON , and payment message validation tools.

Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
