Career Intern (Career Coach) Grant Park High School (30 Hours Per Week - During School Hours) $18.05 Per Hour Start Date : TBD These positions are 10 month terms (working during the regular school year), with a completion date of June 28, 2024.

There is the potential for these term positions to be extended.Under the direction and supervision of the School Principal in coordination with the Guidance Counsellor and Program Administrator, the Career Intern is responsible for the career and skills development of students in preparation for the workforce.

Although the Career Intern role varies from school-to-school they will consistently work in cooperation with the schools Guidance Department and Career Education program.

  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to : Supporting and supplementing career-related services in the school;
  • working in cooperation with the schools Guidance Department and Career Education program; Researching and providing information to students and staff pertaining to the current labour market and post-secondary educational opportunities;
  • Researching, collating, and developing resources that provide current, unbiased information about work roles, educational programs and work and volunteer opportunities;
  • Providing information and instruction on the use of Internet sites that are specific to career development and transition education;
  • Providing job search skill-development sessions to students interested in accessing employment opportunities; Establishing and maintaining a career resource centre;
  • Coaching students in resume writing, cover letter preparation and interview skills; Maintaining current job, volunteer, Aboriginal and scholarship boards;
  • Providing teachers with information on current career-related topics; Researching programs and provide information on post-secondary educational and training opportunities, continuing education, and international work experiences;
  • Assisting students with accessing scholarships and other appropriate financial aids to further their education; Organizing speakers to come to the schools to talk with students about their jobs and occupations;
  • Providing sessions designed to give parents and guardians the knowledge and information they need to better guide their children through the career decision-making process;

Networking with community resources and services. Qualifications : Completion of or currently enrolled in post-secondary education Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills Proficiency at an intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite software Demonstrated ability in research skills Strong organizational and time-management skills with great attention to detail Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Creative problem-solving, critical and analytical skills Experience working with youth How to apply : Click the button "Apply Online" and log into your account.
