This is an exciting time to join the City of Toronto’s People and Equity Division in a key permanent management role as Manager Occupational Health, Safety & Disability Management .

Reporting to the Director Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness, as part of a broader management team, the Manager Occupational Health, Safety & Disability Management (one of three like positions), will manage a sizeable team of professionals in multiple locations, who consult on health and safety, and disability management with their client divisions.

The position oversees established programs and initiatives ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory standards, while fostering the corporate culture of health and safety, and early and safe return to work.

This position plays an integral role in aligning with the management team in Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness, while also supporting senior leadership, in People and Equity, on ensuring success and excellence as a strategic partner.

As an experienced people leader with subject matter expertise, you will lead a skilled and dedicated team of professionals and oversee a wide range of critical responsibilities, including incident reporting, ensuring consistency with corporate initiatives, and providing expert guidance on escalations from your team on matters related to health, safety and disability management.

Escalations could be on matters such as interpretation of legislation and workplace policies, as well as disability management efforts, including WSIB claims management (Schedule 2 Employer) and complex, non-occupational related case management.

This manager role is well suited to a strategic and accomplished professional, passionate about workplace safety and disability management with an ability to be able to collaborate and be aligned with a large group of professionals working in a well-established system.

You will require an awareness of challenges facing large, complex, public service organizations such as the City of Toronto.
