Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the western Canadian sedimentary basin.
We are currently looking for a Construction Superintendent to join our Calgary Office. This position will require travel to our field locations.
Primary Focus
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for all activities related to Civil Construction, in accordance with company policy, relevant regulations and programs.
Reporting to the Construction and Reclamation Manager, this role will be responsible for :
Key Responsibilities
- Team budget, performance and achieving the objectives within time and budget constraints.
- Manage Civil Construction activities at optimum efficiency and safety performance.
- Responsible for technical, financial, and administrative aspects of field operations.
- Create and sustain a Safety performance culture and motivated team.
- Plan and execute Civil Construction operations to achieve desired objectives.
- Management of all field-based activities and liaise with associate departments.
- Daily interaction with construction field supervisors to ensure execution is safe, on time and on budget.
- Management of all field personnel, hiring, discipline, evaluating, scrutinizing charges from them, training, monitoring, holidays, etc.
- Comply with Tourmaline Oil Corp. (TOU) policies, standard and processes.
- Pursue access to and ensure capture of knowledge, learning and technology that actively promotes industry leading performance.
- Ensure that the appropriate levels and competencies of staff are available in performing the tasks.
- Cost tracking and reporting with preparation of documentation for annual reviews.
- Contractor selection, rate evaluation and performance management for all necessary equipment, people and services.
- Continuous learning and performance improvement through reviews against competitor’s performance and evaluating new technologies that come available.
- Manage road and lease surveying program.
- Full understanding of all applicable regulations / guidelines / directives, ie public lands act, EAP, water act, OGC.
- Collaborate with multiple Tourmaline departments to ensure proper timelines and budgets are met.
- Must be very adaptable to changing workloads and resilient to quickly changing timelines during execution.
- Constantly looking for and acting on opportunities to simplify procedures, programs, and standards.
- Visiting the active sites regularly to ensure the team is aligned to TOU’s objectives and is working in a safe and effective manner.
- Assist Construction and Reclamation Manager as required.
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong verbal and written communications skill with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and straight forward manner.
- Project Management and Leadership experience
- Capable of travelling to the field in NE British Columbia, and NW Alberta.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of teamwork and collaboration.
- Business management skills
- Proficient in the use of computer applications
