Position Overview Reporting directly to the Director of Care / Assistant Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) assumes responsibility as a team leader for an assigned unit, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Primary duties include the safe provision of medications and treatments to residents. Key Tasks and Responsibilities : Perform nursing skills in compliance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice Take responsibility for the management of the nursing unit on a tour of duty under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Assist with implementation of prescribed medical regime as per the resident’s POC. Take responsibility for activities delegated by the Registered Nurse.

Continuously observe and update the assessment of the resident by using critical nursing assessment skills and all available resources.

Contribute to the development, modification and implementation of the resident’s Plan of Care (POC). Utilize all available resources to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care given and revise the POC in consultation with the registered nurse.

Maintain records for each resident in compliance with policies of Sherwood Park Manor, documentation standards, and current legislation.

Provide effective support and supervision for non-registered staff and students Perform additional related duties as required Skills and Knowledge : Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Experience working in Long Term Care desirable. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Ability to supervise and oversee Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in a Team Lead role.

Experience using PointClickCare an asset. Soft Skills : Maintain professional collaborative relationships with other multidisciplinary team members AND therapeutic nurse-client relationship with the resident and their family.

Demonstrate sound leadership skills in problem solving and decision-making. Act as an effective mentor to new RPN and PSW staff and provide ongoing encouragement and support as needed.

Demonstrate effective, professional oral and written communication. The ability to manage emergency situations effectively and efficiently.

Have the capacity to deal with distractions and multiple demands on one’s time. The maturity to assume accountability for one’s own actions.

Working Conditions : All while showing compassion and care to the Manor’s residents : Stand and walk for long periods Sit for short periods Bend, stoop, and carry Push / pull wheeled equipment Safely transfer and lift (up to 20 kg.

in accordance with Sherwood Park Manor’s transfer and lift procedures Work day, evening, night shifts; weekends, holidays and for call-in shifts.

Must have an up to date 2 step TB test. Signing Bonus : A signing bonus of $500 will be offered to successful candidates, with a one (1) year commitment to the position.
