Program Assistant – Medical Withdrawal Service
CAMH, a leading mental health organization, is seeking a full‑time, temporary (12 months) Program Assistant to support the Medical Withdrawal Service (MWS) unit. The role reports to the Manager and contributes to safe, optimal functioning of the unit under the direction of clinical staff, promoting maintenance of the therapeutic milieu as part of an interprofessional team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supportive interaction and monitoring of individual and groups of clients, providing direct care and support.
- Accompany clients for medical clearance and other necessary transfers.
- Supervise and facilitate client participation in group and individual activities.
- Communicate verbally and in writing about behavioral observations, assessments, and client responses to care interventions.
- Maintain dynamic and static safety elements of the program and service.
- Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
Qualifications
Secondary School diploma and / or Special Courses, a Personal Care Worker Certificate, or enrollment in a certificate / diploma / degree in a health care discipline.6 months to 1 year of related experience required.CPR certification considered an asset.Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multi‑professional team environment.Reliable, cooperative, client‑focused team player who shows initiative.Organizational, problem‑solving, and written communication skills.Familiarity with clinical care and mental health / addictions settings required.Bilingualism (French / English) and / or proficiency in a second language considered an asset.Location & Shift
Queen Street Site, Toronto, Ontario. Shift rotation and weekend work required.
