As a Safety Associate with Vancouver Coastal Health you will :
- Work with members of the Employee Safety team and designated clients area to ensure the integration of services that promote occupational health and safety planning, implementation, and sustainment.
- Propose and conduct initial incident assessments, quality reviews, and annual Occupational Health and Safety program reviews.
- Coordinate and support the development of education / training sessions.
- Apply, monitor and provide support to Employee Safety programs.
- Act as initial resource for Employee Safety and designated program area.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma in Occupation Health and Safety from a recognized education institution.
- One (1) to three (3) years’ recent, related experience in an occupational health and safety setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge in managing disability cases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in disability management and related best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software packages at an advanced level.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including the ability to respond politely and diplomatically to both internal and external inquiries.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to provide effective administrative support.
- Demonstrated ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and / or sensitive nature.
- Demonstrated time management skills to assist other in meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to record and transcribe minutes of meetings.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
