McEwen Mining Inc. has four producing mines, located in Nevada, Ontario, Mexico, and Argentina, and also has exposure to copper through its subsidiary McEwen Copper, owner of the large Los Azules copper deposit in Argentina.

McEwen Mining currently has an opening at our Fox Complex Sites for a :

METALLURGICAL TECHNICIAN

Reporting to the Senior metallurgist and Mill Manager, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for promoting safety in the Black fox Mill work environment, while carrying out their assigned duties.

In this key role, the Metallurgical Technician must be an exemplary employee focused on safety with a constructive and energetic personality.

They will interact with Mill employees, supervisors, coordinators, managers and JHSEC. They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge of and dedication to safety and production methods.

Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

Operational Planning & Technical Execution

  • Conducting metallurgical technician activities in accordance with the established training guidelines and procedures and conforming to both industry and Stock Mill best practices.
  • Perform general technician duties as well as metallurgical laboratory research and plant testing.
  • Coordinate activities with operations, maintenance and negotiated contracts for mill expansion.
  • Prepare the layout drawings using CAD / CAM for the mill expansion.
  • Prepare the metallurgical mass balance for the milling process.
  • Conduct grinding test, sampling campaigns, leaching tests, and carbon activity tests.
  • Water treatment reagent addition and adjustment to achieve water quality targets.
  • Work in the refinery and oversee its operation as needed.
  • Trouble shoot the milling process and work with instrumentation and maintenance to work on improvements and repairs to equipment.

General Administration and Controls

  • Posses a desire to learn and apply their skills in the milling environment in order to maintain and operate all relevant equipment in the metallurgical laboratory and throughout the mill.
  • Develop and implement process changes based on laboratory research for various types of ores.
  • Provide technical direction for front line production supervisors and aid engineering students as needed.
  • Conduct biweekly and / or monthly gold inventory for the mill.
  • Conduct monthly reagent inventory for the mill.
  • Daily monitored results and prepared reports of the mill operation and identified the KPI for mill.
  • Support and assist with the diagnosing, debugging, and troubleshooting the mill circuit.

Qualifications and Skills Requirement :

  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to propagate technical information within a team environment while ensuring duties are performed in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and schedule activities.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills while working under pressure requiring immediate response to issues.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments / roles.
  • Highly motivated professional with intent to become part of the McEwen Mill team supporting the Safety and the Milling processes.
  • Experience with computers and information systems.
  • Previous experience with testing equipment
  • Able to work in a flexible production environment while possessing strong team coaching skills.
  • Milling experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a Metallurgical Technician role and or leadership role is considered an asset.
  • An associate degree in a related field is considered an asset.
  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in chemical, Environmental, Metallurgical Engineering, Technologist from an accredited college or university is considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate considered an asset.
